Purchase Additional (Add-On) Storage for Google Apps

Google offers you the opportunity to purchase more storage space when you run out of storage space. The extra storage is available for Google Docs, Picasa Web Albums, photos from Blogger, or any combination of these; any product that is over its storage quota can use the extra storage on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you are a Google Apps user — that is, if you have an email address of the form username@your-domain.com provided to you by an organization you belong to — you can purchase additional storage for your account, but with a few differences from users with Google Accounts they created themselves:

  • You can't use the extra storage for Gmail. The amount of Gmail storage you have is determined by which edition of Google Apps your organization has. You can use the extra storage for your Google Docs, Picasa Web Albums, and photos from Blogger. The extra storage will be used by any of these products that has exceeded its storage level.

  • The extra storage is only available to you. You can't share it with other users or transfer it to another account.

  • Data in the extra storage is subject to the same ownership policy as the rest of your account. Google does not own your data. When your organization gave you a Google Apps account, it did so with a particular agreement about whether the data in your account belongs to the organization or to you. (Each organization's policy is different.) Whatever policy is in place for your account applies equally to data in the extra storage.

  • The administrator for your organization has the option to prevent you from purchasing or renewing extra storage, or to prevent you from using Google Docs, Picasa, or Blogger. These actions could prevent you from taking full advantage of the extra storage. Google storage purchases are non-refundable even under these circumstances.

It's normal to experience a delay of up to 24 hours before purchased storage is added to your account. See our storage troubleshooting steps for more information.
